Takoradi lies on the south-western coast of Ghana, and is the smallest half of the twin city Sekondi-Takoradi, which is the capital of the Western Region.
Takoradi is famous for being the home of Ghana's first deepwater seaport, built in 1928. Also in Takoradi, are attractive beaches, historic edifices and factories. There is a wide range of hotels and restaurants on offer.
Takoradi can be easily reached by air or by road, with private or public transport. Driving time from Accra is four hours, and flight time from Accra is fifty minutes.
